The Alliance has recently been recognized for the following achievements:
2008 Quality Award Announcements
In August 2009, the California Department of Health Care Services ranked the Alliance first in quality
among 38 Medi-Cal health plans statewide.
For the third year in a row, the Alliance was awarded a Gold
Quality Award for Outstanding Performance in the California Department of Health Care Services Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set
(HEDIS) Measures for Medi-Cal Managed Care. The Alliance was
recognized as one of the top performing health plans in the State in 2008 for providing high quality
preventive and chronic disease health services to 96,000 Medi-Cal members in Santa Cruz and Monterey
counties. HEDIS rigorously measures the delivery of preventative care to children, women, and individuals with chronic disease. In addition, the Alliance received a Gold Quality Award
for Best Compliance in the California Department of Health Care Services 2008 Facility Site and Medical
Record Reviews for Medi-Cal Managed Care.
In 2008, the Alliance received the 2007 Silver Quality Award for Customer Service, based on the Consumer
Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey method for assessing member
satisfaction.
2007 HEDIS/CAHPS Award Announcements
In March 2008, the California Department of Health Care Services ranked the Alliance first in quality and second in customer satisfaction among 39 Medi-Cal health plans statewide:
HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set)
For the second year in a row, the Alliance received the 2007 Gold Quality Award for outstanding performance for Medi-Cal managed care. The Alliance was recognized as one of two top performing health plans in the State for providing high quality preventive and chronic disease health services to 86,000 Medi-Cal members in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties. HEDIS rigorously measures the delivery of preventative care to children, women, and individuals with chronic disease. For the past five consecutive years, the Alliance has received the honor of a California Department of Health Care Services’ quality award and ranked as one of the top three health plans in the State.
CAHPS (Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems)
The Alliance received the 2007 Silver Quality Award for outstanding performance for Medi-Cal managed care. The CAHPS survey measures member satisfaction. This is the first year that CAHPS awards have been presented, and the Alliance placed second in this important category.
United Way Campaign
In March 2007, the Alliance was awarded the 2006 Employee Campaign of the Year award by United Way of Santa Cruz County for its robust employee fundraising campaign. For many years now, Alliance staff have participated in an annual United Way employee giving campaign. The Alliance has received the United Way Gold Award in 2003, the Silver Award in 2004, and the Gold Award in 2005.
Holiday Food Drives
Since 1997, the Alliance has participated in annual holiday food drives for Santa Cruz County, San Benito County, and Monterey County Food Banks, raising almost 400,000 pounds of food in the process. The Alliance has won many awards for its contributions to these communities. Beginning in 2009, we also proudly partnered with the Merced County Food Bank.
Green Business Certification
The Alliance became certified in October 2008 as a Monterey Bay Area Green Business. The Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program is a successful partnership of environmental agencies, utilities and non-profit organizations that assist, recognize and promote businesses and government agencies that volunteer to operate in a more environmentally responsible way. To be certified "green," participants must be in compliance with regulations and meet program standards for conserving resources, preventing pollution and minimizing waste.
Phil Rather Award for Leadership in Health Care
In May of 2006, the Alliance was awarded the Phil Rather Award for Leadership in Health Care from the Pajaro Valley Community Health Trust. The Phil Rather award recognizes and honors those whose contributions of time, effort and/or funding help make a difference in the quality of health care for Pajaro Valley residents. In 2006, the Alliance shared this award with Mary Boyd, a radiologist technologist at Watsonville Community Hospital and patient advocate.
Mother-Baby Friendly Work Place Award
The Alliance received the Mother-Baby Friendly Work Place Award from the Santa Cruz County Breastfeeding Coalition in August of 2005. The Alliance received this award “for contributing to the overall health of the community and the balance of work and family by supporting parents' choice to provide their babies with mother’s own milk.” This award is in recognition of the Alliance’s maternity room which is available to Alliance moms expressing milk for their newborns.
