Central Coast Alliance for Health, a public nonprofit health plan serving 84,000 Medi-Cal members in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties, has been ranked first in preventive services and second in customer satisfaction by the California Department of Health Care Services.
The company was chosen from all 39 Medi-Cal health plans operating in California for the 2007 Quality Awards.
This is the second consecutive year the plan won the Gold Award for having the highest rates of preventive care such as child immunization and prenatal care, tied this year with Health Plan of San Francisco. The alliance won a Silver Award for ranking second in the state for customer satisfaction.
The Central Coast Alliance for Health serves lower-income residents who lack a primary care provider, linking them to primary care physicians and clinics that deliver services and preventive care, and arrange referrals to specialists. More than 1,000 local health care providers participate in the Alliance network.
